Fox had their 2010 range on display at the Core Bike show, including their latest downhill helmet, some updated classics and some all-new kit. Here are some of the highlights.
V3R helmet
Fox's new V3R full-face is based on their V3 motocross lid but is said to weigh in at a more pushbike-friendly 1,180g (2.6lb) thanks to its carbon fibre and Kevlar construction.
Features include 10 front vents and four exhaust ports to keep you cool, plus fully removable padding. It'll be available from March, in two sizes. RRP is US$379.99 (UK price TBC).
Launch Pro kneeguard
Also new for 2010 is the Launch Pro kneeguard at £45 ($59.95), which looks similar to offerings from SixSixOne and Troy Lee Designs.
It combines a flexible plastic knee cup with a Kevlar front panel and neoprene body. Silicone grippers and elastic straps keep it in place, and the neoprene is perforated for breathability.
Launch undershort
Fox have reworked their padded undershort for 2010. The old version was designed for motocross riders but the new Launch has been specifically designed with pedallers in mind so it has padding at the front of the leg, more coccyx protection and a 3D-moulded pad. RRP is £39.99.
Flux helmet
The popular Flux helmet is unchanged apart from a choice of new colour schemes, including the black and white design seen here. RRP is £69.99.
Riding gear
Fox have noticed that their gear is becoming more popular with cross-country and leisure riders in addition to the more 'extreme' end of the market they have traditionally tended to cater to. This is reflected in their 2010 technical clothing, with a more subtle look, subdued colours and smaller logos than the more lairy motocross-inspired gear they are best known for.
There's also an emphasis on lighter weight and stretchier fabric, and the shorts feature a new Evolution liner with 3D-moulded pad, which is also available separately for £29.99.
But don't worry if you liked the Fox of old – there's still plenty of more colourful, 'look-at-me!' type kit with the classic fox head logo in the lineup. Check out the thumbnail gallery at the top of this page for more images.
