Contour are billing their latest helmet cam, the ContourROAM, as one of the most versatile, easy-to-use and cheapest video cameras they’ve ever produced. While their latest high-end model, the Contour+ (which we've just finished testing – look out for a review on BikeRadar soon), costs £499, the ROAM is just £199.
It uses a swivelling 170° wide-angle lens (rotatable to 270°) to capture video in 720/960/1,080p resolutions at 30 frames per second, as well as five megapixel still images. A large sliding 'record' button makes it easy to operate with gloved hands.
Weighing a claimed 145g, the camera is encased in aluminium and waterproof to depths of one metre for 30 minutes, which means there’s no need for an additional case to protect against the elements when riding. It’s available with a variety of mounts, has an in-built microphone and takes SD cards up to 32GB.
