Subaru have done it, Peugeot have just started doing it again, and Ferrari joined forces with Colnago to do it too – and now BMW have produced a bicycle which apparently combines “state-of-the-art technology and exclusive design”.
The German car company’s M series division are best known for upgrading standard BMW cars with, for example, improved handling and suspension, and more aggressive aerodynamics.
Now they’ve put their name and famous M badge on a two-wheeled machine, the M Bike. The spec includes Shimano’s SLX mountain bike groupset, hydraulic disc brakes, a Manitou Match suspension fork with 80mm of travel – and slick tyres.
According to BMW: “Anyone who rides this sporty speed bike through the city or takes a short tour through the countryside will immediately attract a lot of attention − at least for a few seconds. The high total gear ratio transmission delivers astonishing speed.”
Available in June 2010, the M Bike will be available at select BMW dealers and online at www.bmw-shop.com. So, what are your thoughts on the M Bike? Let us know in the comments section below.
