Pivot Cycles has a long history of making go-fast, cross-country mountain bikes that ride well above their travel numbers. The latest iteration of the Mach 4 continues this trend. Beyond just being a cross country demon, Pivot has expanded its build offerings to include more trail-focused options, as well as frame sizes for the smallest riders.

A fit for everybody
Pivot has always delivered bikes with exceptional standover and the new Mach 4 follows that pattern.
The X-Small frame size has a suggested size range of 4'10" to 5'5", so even the shortest riders can get a proper fit.
Pivot states that the smaller frames have a shorter head tube which helps to lower the top tube for increased standover height.
Each frame size has a dedicated carbon layup to equalize the strength and stiffness throughout the size range. Additionally, the smaller frames are sprung with shocks featuring a lighter shock tune and revised leverage ratios.
Plus a water bottle will fit in the main frame. On sizes Small through Large, two water bottles can fit inside the main frame.
Large (Long) frame size
Pivot is offering a new size called Large (Long). Like the name suggests, the Long version adds a longer front center to the Large frame size.
Trail or race ready
Pivot caters to both the cross-country race crowd, as well as the trail riders who believe that speed is the main ingredient for fun out in the woods.
The XC race package is fronted by a Fox 32 Step Cast fork with 100mm travel. A carbon flat bar partners with the shorter travel fork to keep the front end low and Maxxis' Ikon 2.2in tires are fitted.
On the trail build, a larger stanchion Fox 34 guides the way with 130mm. The 34 fork also has clearance for 2.6in tires (the 32 has 2.3in tire clearance). More control comes courtesy from the Maxxis Ardent 2.35in tires and a riser bar paired with a shorter stem.
Pivot recommends that riders who want the ability to run 2.6in rubber on the XC build kit need to order a Fox 34 fork.
