Fox in conjunction with the CPSC has issued a voluntary recall of all model year 2016 and some 2017 Float X2 shocks. According the company, the air sleeve can rupture under compression, posing a crash hazard to the rider. To date there have been seven reports of outer air sleeve ruptures. No injuries have been reported.
This recall applies to approximately 7,300 units. The Float X2 shocks were sold aftermarket and on complete bikes from YT, Giant, Pivot, Intense, Ibis, Scott, Trek, GT, Knolly, Norco, Rocky Mountain, Diamondback, Morpheus, Foes Racing, Orbea, and Canyon.
The Float X2 shocks included in this recall were shipped on or before September 9, 2016 on complete bikes and as aftermarket shocks. Riders can check to see if their shocks are included in the recall by looking for a “250psi max” label directly under the air valve. If no label is present, the shock is subject to this recall.
Consumers who own a Float X2 affected by this recall are urged to stop riding it immediately and should contact Fox for more information.
