Evil has just pulled the covers of its latest model, an enduro rig called the Insurgent. This new model takes design cues from the 26in Uprising and 29in Following and blends them into an incredibly low and slack 27.5in mountain bike.

The Insurgent uses a combination of internal and external cable routing
The Insurgent, which was being showcased at Eurobike this week, features 151mm of suspension travel and is designed to be paired with 160mm suspension forks. The full carbon frame uses a combination of internal and external cable routing. For now at least, the Insurgent sticks with the 142x12mm rear axle standard, rather than the wider 148mm option that is gaining traction.
Evil founder Kevin Walsh likes his bikes low and slack. Since the beginning, his company has pushed trail bike geometry well into the realm of gravity bikes.
The DELTA linkage is a single-pivot suspension system
The DELTA linkage, which is a tongue-in-cheek acronym for Dave’s Extra Legitimate Travel Apparatus, has a massive 17mm main pivot to aid in stiffening the frame, and adjustable chips that can be flipped to give riders the option to set up the Insurgent in ‘low’ or ‘really low’ settings. The company concedes that the extra low position will probably only be favored for riding in bike parks. (Walsh, though prefers his bike in this position.)
When adjusting the geometry from low to really low, the head angle slackens 65.6 to 64.4 degrees and the bottom bracket drops from 13.6 to 13.2in. Geometry can be further adjusted through the use of an AngleSet. Chainstay length is 430mm / 16.9in.
The Insurgent features a built-in chainguide
The 1x-specific Insurgent features an integrated — and incredibly sleek —carbon chainguide. According to suspension designer Dave Weagle, when installed, this chainguide actually bolsters rear end stiffness. The Insurgent also has ISCG-05 tabs, should riders want to run a bashguard as well.

Pricing and availability
The frame with shock will retail for $2,799 / €3,299. (UK and Australian pricing was not immediately available.)
The Insurgent is available as a frame with RockShox Monarch Plus shock now. Complete bikes will be available in the coming weeks with SRAM GX1 and XO1 build kits as well as with a Shimano XT kit. (Complete bike pricing to be determined.)
