Our review
Top quality and feature-packed lid that looks good and feels great but comes with a hefty price tag Buy if, Money's no object in your pursuit of a top-grade lid

Pros:

Neat design maxes protection without excessive bulk, super comfy, well vented and easily adjustable

Cons:

The price is quite a deterrent

This lightweight lid from Sweet Protection weighs a respectable 331g (L/XL) and accommodated the biggest cranium our team had to offer without looking absolutely massive like some helmets this size can do.

Impressively, Sweet's designers have managed to fit a MIPS liner inside for extra defence against rotational impacts. On top of that, the shell is made from five separate polycarbonate pieces of varying thickness that are bonded directly to the EPS body.

The Norwegian brand claims this gives added protection in important areas while helping to keep weight to a minimum.

In use, the Bushwhacker is high on comfort, with no hot spots or pinching. Thanks to the 17 vents, there’s plenty of airflow to keep your head nice and cool. Two sets of padding are included with the helmet – one thin, one thick – which is a nice touch and makes it that bit easier to dial in the fit.

We like the way Sweet Protection has routed the straps through the shell moulding, because it prevents them rubbing on your head and getting sweaty. The four-way retention system can be adjusted easily on the fly and offers a secure, comfy fit.

While the peak is as good as fixed in position, it’s short and high enough that it doesn’t obscure your view. Just a shame it costs so much, really.
