Scott makes just about everything you need for your MTB kicks including a lot of shoes. This is one of its cheaper models, but it doesn’t look out of place compared to their high-end shoes.
Much like the Bontrager Forays, the sole is made from a nylon/fibreglass composite. This is paired to a traditional buckle/Velcro retention system.
The shoes also feel fantastic to walk in and up there with the best I’ve ever tested
The buckle is fairly bulky and doesn’t compare to a BOA system, but still clamps your feet down nicely.
Once riding this shoe truly shines. For my feet the fit was perfect; totally secure and with just the right amount of toe wiggle — if you have a fairly wide forefoot, they should feel great.
Add in the secure heel cup and Scott’s own Adjustable ErgoLogic insole, and you have a fit to rival most high-end shoes.
Pedalling also felt great because the MTB Pros have a low stack height, meaning you feel closely connected to the pedals when putting the power down.
The shoes also feel fantastic to walk in and up there with the best I’ve ever tested. This is probably down to the low profile tread and slight give in the composite sole.
Perhaps the only compromise is that they’re not the most grippy in the mud, although you do have the option to add studs/spikes for when things get slippy.
