Leatt’s DBX Comp neck brace was inspired by their successful GPX Club brace, which is a regular on the motocross circuit. Although the GPX brace could be worn for mountain biking (we’ve used one for over a year), there was room for improvement. And that’s where the DBX comes in with its cycling-specific design.
The DBX Comp features a lower profile design to allow for the wider of range of movement that we bike riders require. There are also six points of adjustment to help tailor the fit –and it takes no time at all to get used to wearing it because it’s really comfy.
There’s very little noticeable interference with the helmet while riding, even when you’re head-up, going down a near vertical trail. It’s constructed from a combination of glass-injected nylon and Kevlar-reinforced carbon fibre so it’s pretty light too. Ours weighed 939g including the strap, and really didn’t hinder our riding at all.
The Bio-Foam padding is machine washable, the release clips are bright red and easy for the emergency services to spot, and the new clear chest strap will prevent logos on jerseys being covered up. We’ve had some pretty big offs while wearing this and we’re happy to report, so far so good.
