Shimano Tiagra FD-4503 Front Mech review

The front mech hasn't escaped the redesign process and improvements include increased stiffness. While the new mech is slightly better than before, you'll still need to toe the trailing edge of the cage plate outwards to get a snatch-free shift.

Our review
More precise and stiffer than its predecessor, this is a great piece of kit

The front mech hasn't escaped the redesign process and improvements include increased stiffness to reduce the snatching when shifting from small to large chainrings. While the new mech is slightly better than the outgoing version, you'll still need to toe the trailing edge of the cage plate slightly outwards to get a snatch-free shift. The FD-4500 version that is intended for use with double chainsets has a short cage plate that is compatible both with normal and compact chainsets.
