Weighing in at just 185g a pair (without cleats), these Thrust XRF08 carbon-bodied, titanium-spindled pedals appear to offer exceptional value for money. Look loyalists should note that the 2011 model Thrust has been redesigned to offer an improved 59mm surface area, matching that of Look’s updated Keo Max.
This should help deliver greater power transfer and makes for comfortable pedalling. The weight here, though – not to mention the price – compares favourably with Look’s range-topping Ti-axled Keo Carbon Blades(£274) and there’s the real appeal. Xpedo supply two sets of good quality cleats with the pedals, one with 6° of float, the other 0°. You can also use Keo cleats for cross compatibility.
When fitted, the XRF08s look good and turn freely and smoothly. Clipping in and out is hassle-free, and is easy to adjust too, thanks to Xpedo’s excellent and clear tension indicator. This makes it simple to adjust both pedals equally to your preferred tension.
