The Podium pedals have a very thin body – 11mm on the outside edge to be precise – so the feel is fantastic. Their looks are impressive too. Using eight pins on each side of the pedal, grip is tunable and is further increased with the concave platform.
There are four sealed cartridge bearings on each pedal, with O-ring seals, allowing for smooth spinning on the heat-treated 4140 chromoly axle. The open design copes well in mud and, despite initial reservations about the bearings being too exposed, ours are running well. They are on the stiff side though, having not changed much from their out-of-the-box feel.
To keep the pedal profile as low as possible, there’s a raised collar on the inside, which houses bearings and the pedal threads. In certain shoes you can feel the collar, which can distract you from getting your foot in the right position.
