The Fat Bar is a new handlebar from motocross legends Renthal. The angles will feel familiar to anyone who’s used the latest generation of handlebars, thanks to their nine-degree backsweep and five-degree upsweep.
Our samples featured a 38mm rise, which bucks the super-low or even flat front-end trend. At 712mm wide, these bars won’t be wide enough for some, but fashion aside, they proved to be comfortable and flex-free without threatening trees.
The gold anodised finish proved a Marmite-like divide among testers, though everyone appreciated the quality.Tipping the scales at 345g, these are no lightweights but strength and durability isn’t a concern.
Although branded as a downhill-specific bar, due to their rise and width, we think they make a perfect 4X or playbike steering stick. Anyone looking for moto kudos on their downhill rig should check out the new 750mm wide, 20mm rise version.
