Endura has gone for a combination of fabrics forthe Windchill. A waterproof, breathable and slightly stretchy material has been used for the front and most of the sleeves to keep the elements at bay, but there’s a thin Thermal Roubaix fabric across the back and sides and under the arms.
The Roubaix is more breathable than the waterproof material, making for excellent temperature control. If you exceed the fabric’s ability to deal with your exertions, though, there are zipped pit vents (with easy-to-grab long pulls) as a back-up.
There’s not as much stretch in the waterproof sections as there is in Windstopper fabric, and there’s a crinkly feel to the sleeves. But the upside is that the Windchill keeps showers at bay for slightly longer. You’re unlikely to be wearing a jacket like this next to the skin, so the feel of the inside is rather moot.
A stretch panel at the end of the sleeves allows a snug cuff that you can still get your hand through. Fit is close without being overly tight, and the sleeves and back are adequately long. A silicone gripper on the hem stops the jacket riding up.
On the back are three jersey-style pockets, plus a waterproof zippered one. A fifth pouch on the chest includes a glasses wipe and headphone port. Reflective trim on the sleeves and back is the finishing touch.
