The fit of these versatile shoes is comfortably neutral, with useful toe space for helping circulation in the cold. However, the unsealed suede and mesh upper doesn’t stay dry for long on wet rides, so they’re not ideal for winter riding.
The mix of laces and a broad Velcro strap is easy to adjust for secure comfort, while the tall heel keeps a good secure grip when walking. The soles are flexible enough around the forefoot for rambling, and the new two-tone Trail Grip tread is reliably surefooted on all surfaces too.
On the bike they’re still stiff enough to only vaguely feel the cleat when you’re putting the power down hard, and cleat engagement/release is fine on platform-style clipless pedals.
The sturdy build (942g for a pair of size 44 with SPD cleats) includes a reinforced toe bumper to fend off rocks, and there’s a more subdued grey with green trim colourway option than the model pictured. The cleat mounts are a long way back, so measure carefully when fitting.
