Pedro's have created 50 limited-edition World Bicycle Relief Master Tool Kits, with the proceeds benefiting the charity.
To kick off the programme, they will raffle off WBR Master Tool Kit number one at Interbike 2009, with 100 percent of the funds going to World Bicycle Relief.
"While many people in the bike industry dedicate their work to ensure maximum performane at the top end of the market, those who need bicycles for a daily 'race' also need technology working on their behalf," said Katie Bolling, manager of Grassroots Development at World Bicycle Relief.
"When we partner with a company like Pedro's, it makes you further realise the impact our industry can have in the battle against poverty and the endless possibilities of what we can accomplish when we work together."
To date, more than 50,000 new bicycles have been assembled locally and delivered through World Bicycle Relief programmes supporting healthcare, education and economic development in some of the poorest regions of the world.
"(Everyone) knows the value of a bicycle and what good it can do," said Pedro's CEO Chris Zigmont. "In this country we tend to think about climate change, fighting obesity and congestion. But World Bicycle Relief proves the bicycle's greater value with the work they do. We had to find a way to contribute, so this special edition WBR Master Tool Kit was born."
Interbike attendees can participate in the raffle by purchasing tickets at the Pedro's booth, #4155, up until the time of the drawing on Thursday, 24 September. One need not be present to win, Zigmont added.
