Like the saddlebags that Carradice are known for, this 10-litre rack bag has ample room for essentials for long day rides or audax events.
It’s usefully compartmentalised, with three outer zip pockets – the rear of which contains a waterproof cover – and a small elasticated inner pocket in the main zipped compartment.
There’s mesh and elastic on top for stowing, for example, a jacket, plus three elastic loops for a pump. And if you need more space than the 28x20x13.5cm bag provides, the top zips open and extends upwards like the top of a campervan to give another 1.5 litres of space.
It’s well made and padded, although since the load sits on top of the rack rather than being suspended from it, it’s subject to more vibration; expect blackened bananas. But the centred load is streamlined and it’s easy to forget it’s there.
Four Velcro straps hold it securely to the rack, and there’s a removable shoulder strap to carry it off the bike. There’s an indestructible Super C cotton duck version for £19 more.
