London-based clothing brand Vulpine has established itself as a key player in fashionable performance clothing for cyclists.
BikeRadar takes an exclusive look at Vulpine's latest clothing line for spring 2014.
Merino Alpine jersey
Vulpine's Alpine jersey was first introduced last year. The idea behind it was to produce the most comfortable cycling jersey available, without compromising on style. It's back for this season in a new grey/red colourway. A full-length zipper and several pockets make it an ideal choice for longer rides and the merino wool construction promises the best in temperature regulation, sweat wicking and odour control. The details are impressive; flatlock stitching and printed labels are used to minimise rubbing, and there's silicone grippers to hold the stylishly-cut rear in place.
Merino boy short
New for this season is the Merino boy short, designed as a softer and more subtle alternative to bibs. It's intended for all day use and is made from 150g merino wool with a slim Cytech pad.
Merino polo
Vulpine's merino polo returns for the spring season in this new squadron blue colour. Featuring a cycling friendly cut, it makes for a smart look both on and off the bike. It's also the most versatile garment of the range – pair with shorts in summer, or a jacket and cardigan in winter, ace.
Cotton rain shorts
We were big fans of Vulpine's original tailored shorts and these new cotton rain shorts look similar. Made from a special water resistant fabric, they simply shrug off rain droplets. They're also breathable and wind resistant. The shorts are packed with practical features. The pockets for example, are cut high, so that a wallet or phone can't fall out. The legs sit slightly above the knee with a cut that's fashionable but not freaky. The rear pocket flap has a neat magnetic closure, while the flap itself can be popped neatly inside the pocket to reveal a tough light loop.
Merino mid socks
Sporting a classic British style, these Italian0made socks are designed to be as comfortable as possible yet still hard wearing. Made from a blend of merino, polyester and lycra, they're long enough to offer some leg warmth too.
Women's Merino Alpine jersey
The women's version of the Merino Alpine jersey returns in new blue and green colour options. Just like the men's version, it's full of practical features but in no way short of style. The cut is slim on the waist, with more room on the hips and bust.
Women's Merino button jersey
Vulpine's merino button jersey is now available in a women's cut with new colour options, including a very vibrant red. Like most of the other garments, the button jersey offers all the benefits of merino wool and features looks that you'd not normally associate with cycling-specific clothing. There's a four-button closure at the front, and at the rear are two angled rear-side pockets and a central zipped pocket for valuable. Silicone waist grippers prevent it riding up and there is even a reflective light loop.
Women's cotton rain trousers
The women's cotton rain trousers have been continued for spring 2014. They pack in all the best features of Vulpine's shorts into a package that's even more casual once off the bike. The right leg features a button adjuster at the ankle to prevent chain annoyances and, should you prefer turn-ups, the inner seams are reflective. There's even a key carabiner.
Merino T-shirt
Vulpine's ultra casual merino T-shirt is now available in light blue. It has a slim, bike-friendly cut and, once again, you'll find details such as flatlock stitching and printed labels to maximise comfort. The rear has a valuables pocket that's fastened by a single button, as well as subtle, reflective detailing.
