Peugeot bikes have been absent from the UK market for the best part of a decade but that's set to change with the unveiling of a new range at Cycle Show 2010.
A full quiver of machines was on display, including entry-level mountain bikes, a classy-looking Premiere fixed gear and a variety of town/leisure and electric bikes, but the models that caught our eye were the Speed Sport Carbon and Moov'it.
The SSC and top-end Moov'it #3 appear to share the same 3k carbon monocoque frame, but the former comes with drops and a race-ready build while the latter is specced with a flat bar for use about town.
The Speed Sport Carbon and Moov'it #3 sport similarly swoopy lines
Spec highlights on the 7.9kg (17.4lb, claimed) Speed Sport include Mavic Aksium wheels, Michelin Lithion tyres, Shimano Ultegra gearing and a Fizik Pave CX Sport saddle. The Moov'it #3 downgrades to Shimano R500s, Speedium tyres and Shimano Tiagra, and is said to weigh 8.3kg (18.3lb).
Further details of the new models are scarce, with distributors Cycleurope saying they were at the show to gauge interest rather than immediately relaunch the brand into the market. Prices are expected to be announced in January or February, with bikes available "early next year".
Peugeot's new range also includes more retro-looking machines, like this City Edition Collector with rear roller brake, chrome-plated bell and dual kickstand
